  • What is Hormone Pellet Therapy?

Hormone pellet therapy is a treatment for replacing or regulating hormones in males and females. It involves the use of hormone pellets, which are implants under the skin that release bioidentical hormones from plants. Hormone pellet therapy is a newer method to supply hormones to the body in both men and women, and is an alternative to taking the hormones orally or through a transdermal method.

  • What are Hormone Pellets?

Hormone pellets are implants that a healthcare professional inserts under the skin. They release hormones called bioidentical hormones. Bioidentical hormones come from plants and are similar to the hormones that the human body produces.

The hormones commonly used in pellet therapy include estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. These bioidentical hormones are derived from plant sources and are molecularly identical to the hormones produced by the human body. They can be customized in dosage and combination to meet the specific needs of each individual patient.

  • What is the Procedure for Hormone Pellet Therapy?

Our Nurse Practitioner begin with blood draws for labs and review your symptoms, medical history in conjunction with your lab work.

She will consider factors such as hormone levels and body mass index (BMI) when working out an appropriate dose of hormones to insert.

To insert hormone pellets, our practitioner will numb the skin and make a small incision, usually into the hip area. They will then insert one or more hormone pellets underneath the skin. Each pellet is roughly the size of a grain of rice.

She will close the incision with Steri-Strips, a stitch, or both. We will follow up 5-7 post procedure and remove steri-strips and review your progress.

The pellets provide a constant supply of hormones for about 3 months.
